Frida's story
Frida is 19 years old, has Down syndrome and was born with severe heart failure. After postoperative complications during cardiac surgery, she suffered cerebral palsy. Frida is spastic tetraplegic with tonal change and dyskinesia. These conditions have meant that Frida has always had to fight with her motor skills and her control of movements. The combination of being spastic and hypotonic in the muscles is difficult. After a though spinal surgery in 2014, Frida's spastic patterns became worse and resulted in sleep problems. Frida became less alert than usual. After that, various doctors have tried to find treatments, but it has not been easy. The only thing that has helped a little bit has been botox in her neck because she then got a better head posture. Baclofen tablets was also tested, but she did not tolerate it. How does Mollii help Frida?
Mollii helps Frida become softer in her body and less skewed in body position. She can now control her movements better. Among other things, she can use her hands more willingly and is now able to grasp most things. Before Mollii, her genereal patterns was backward bent in, but now she is more flexed and she can now gather limbs easier. She can also turn her head and look at the "difficult" side which she could not do before.. In addition, Frida also experience better sleep and her mood is different, she is more alert.
Some words from Frida's mother
Frida's mother tells us that in a way she has become herself again and more like the person she was before the back surgery. The botox injections, is not an option anymore and she has not injected botox since she started using Mollii 2018.
