From now on, the electrodress Mollii can be prescribed as aids in Västernorrland. Molli is used by people with cerebral palsy, stroke, spinal cord injury, multiple sclerosis or other central nervous system damage.
Västernorrland County Council has decided to bring in the electric dress Mollii in its range. For 6 to 18 months, 15 people have used Mollii and have been evaluated by physiotherapists in the field of habilitation. At first, Mollii will be available through so-called orderly introduction.
– The Aid Committee for County Councils and the municipalities in Västernorrland have decided to meet the need for muscle stimulants to provide the opportunity for increased activity and participation. During an orderly introduction with evaluations, Mollii has proven to achieve the goals of the people who have tried the suit, says Katarina Funseth, Assistive Technology Coordinator in Västernorrland County.
The next step is that the Help Center arranges a contract where Inerventions have the opportunity to offer Mollii. Mollii can be prescribed to those who need the suit of physiotherapists and doctors in the county clinic, habilitation or rehabilitation.
– Mollii can increase the mobility of people with spasticity or improper muscle tension, and we are pleased that more people can benefit from this effective aid. Now we hope and believe that more county councils will follow suit so that everyone has the same opportunity to gain access to Mollii regardless of where they live in the country, ”says Fredrik Lundqvist, inventor of Mollii and founder of Inerventions.
Mollii makes spastic, tense, muscles relax by the suit activating another muscle that interacts with the tense. Weak current is led to electrodes in the suit. Which electrodes are activated are programmed according to the different needs of the users.
Inerventions is a Swedish medical technology company that developed Mollii, a revolutionary product for treating improper muscle tension in people with damage to the central nervous system. Mollii is a full body suit with 58 integrated electrodes that, with weak electrical impulses, can simultaneously stimulate all the body’s major muscle groups. Mollii has been used with great success for four years and today has about 700 users in 12 European countries.
